I was expecting it to be quiet after Christmas so wasn't sure what I was going to write for this weeks Handmade Harbour post. Especially since my shop is pretty low on stock at the moment. So it was a nice surprise to hear from my local craft store saying they've sold one of my bags.
I've also had some lovely comments back from people who received one of my bags as a Christmas present. I think this is one of my favourite colour combinations so far.
All this has spurred me on to get a move on with restocking my shop. I have a list of bags I want to make in a variety of fabrics, and then I think it's time to focus on my website. Folksy sales and custom orders through my Facebook page did really well at the end of 2012. But my website didn't do quite so well. So, I think it's time it got a little bit more TLC.
But first I need more stock.....
And to do that I need more fabric....yeah......
(OK, well I don't really need any more fabric, but any excuse!)
I'll let you know how I get on.
You won't be able to resist.... new fabric will cry its eyes out if you walk past it - it sobs and sobs!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sale xx
Its great to hear that your business is doing so well, your bags certainly are gorgeous and well deserving of their popularity!
ReplyDeleteI find that its harder to get visitors to my website than elsewhere too, its a bit stick out there on its own in cyberspace i always feel...! I have a links page on there to connect to other handmade sites - i could add a link to your site if you like? x
Good luck with the restock and creating some new bags, look forward to seeing them x
ReplyDeleteyou can never have enough fabric/yarn :)
ReplyDeletegood luck with getting future sales in 2013
OHH, new fabric, there's always something very lovely about new fabric!! I find January is not the quiet month everyone says it is (but that's online). I think some sales come in on the back of Christmas gifts received, some as late gifts, who knows? My quietest months are June and September. Websites take a long time to build up - good luck with it! x
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to feel the same about fabric, but if this craft demands it, who are we to argue? :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what new things you create.
Ohhh I could die a happy lady in a fabric shop like that :-) I love that colour combo in your second pic - really pretty. Have a great week, Simmi x
ReplyDeleteIt is great that you have had a sale and that you have had good feedback - well done :) I think you have the best excuse to go shopping for more fabric. Good luck with the website and new makes. Looking forward to seeing your creations.

Good news on your sale, especially as you were not expecting it, now go and buy more fabric before it all runs out.
ReplyDeleteJan :)
Well, my excuse always is that I buy the fabric instead of the Mulberry Bag, which every (apparently) respectable women of certain age (apparently) should have !
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the bags Helen, and any excuse to shop!!! Janelle
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have an excuse for fabric shopping! I'm sure once the Christmas and New Year hangovers have finished they'll be knocking at you (shop)door again - your bags are lovely! Sue x
