Camper van bag

I haven't been around for a few handmade Monday's, so sorry for not dropping by other folks' blogs - hope you've all been having a busy time. Bag making has been a bit slow - mostly because I've been trying some new patterns as well as creating some more new designs of my own.

There's been a bit of an animal theme in my custom orders lately. First there was the rabbit bag, which was followed by another order for a rabbit bag. My cat themed messenger bag has proven popular, with a request for a slightly different version. This time using a pink and green tweed effect fabric.
Then there was a special order for a bird themed bag (but I can't share that one yet because it is a surprise wedding gift from the husband-to-be, so I'd better keep mum until after the big day!), and the peacock theme bag for my friend (which she loved by the way!)

So, it's been nice to start on some new projects. First, i'm trying to tweak my own pattern for a kelly style bag. I love the old retro shape of a kelly bag, so what better fabric to use than some lovely art deco fabric.
It's still a work in progress and a bit of a labour of love!

I also figured it's about time I made a bag for myself. I loved this 1950's retro fabric and the colours, I just had to decide what to make with it (but if my kelly bag pattern works I think it may also get that treatment!).

But I did manage to finish one item for my Folksy shop. I really enjoyed making this green and pink camper van bag - what do you think?
