The worst thing about having all your floors done at once is that you have to move your entire contents somewhere else. We split the installation over two days - but even so it was quite startling to see the amount of 'stuff' myself and Mr HbyH have accumulated over the years! So several trips to the tip later, and after depositing a huuuuuuge bag of items at the local charity shop, we are almost back to normal.
My fabric stash has had a good tidy.
And my vintage atlas sewing machine is the star of the spare bedroom.
And I did find a bit of time to make some progress on my latest custom order. The brief was something a little ordinary, grey and subtle looking on the outside - but with a wow on the inside. So I've made a start on a couple of bags which might fit the bill.
Time to mooch around other folks at Handmade Monday - I try to make sure I visit everyone who posts a link.
We are in the same situation with carpets. Having some laid, dreading moving the big bookcases! Well I think you've completed the brief very well and she should be pleased with the extra wow factor hidden inside.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good excuse to have a sort out however. I bet your home feels a bit like new. Loving the pink material lining. Very cheerful.
ReplyDeleteI love bags with a wow on the inside too - it kind of makes them very special. It's great the carpet thing gave you an excuse for a tidy-up!
ReplyDeleteThought for one minute you were going to say you made some bags with the old carpet but then again not a bad idea
ReplyDeleteoooh i love the pink lining on that last bag! i always think its nice when the lining of a bag has a bit of flare.. (and the same with coats!)
ReplyDeletei bet you're glad you've had a clear out now its done :) x
Love the grey bags with the wow lining. Everything looks really tidy to me!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Alison x
Glad to hear it's all cosy underfoot. I don't envy all your furniture moving. I spillover into the rest of the house if I'm only decorating one room. Love the pink fabric inside the 'ordinary' bag.

Well done on the stash tidy - when I have a sort out I am always amazed at things I find that I had completely forgotten about. Your bag is lovely and the lining is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh I remember the carpeting the whole house thing - did it once when I was heavily pregnant, great as everyone else had to do the shifting furniture from one room to another! The bag's looking great, grey and pink are such a lovely combination.
ReplyDeleteooo, that was brave, getting the carpets done whilst pregnant - but obviously had its perks!
DeleteWell done on getting your stash sorted, mine is overdue ;) The bags look great!
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to get your house back in order after having anything done. Seems we do floors every time we move, either recarpeting, redoing wood, whatever. But it's always worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the bags, love that sweet pink floral on the inside of the gray bag. Very nice.
Love the pink lining on that bag - wow!!
ReplyDeleteYour sewing machine is lovely. Is that the one that you use?
I bought it a while ago on the basis i thought it would go through thick fabrics. It does - but struggles a bit on straps and is sooooo heavy to move. So it doesn't quite do what i bought it for but....it looks so pretty i just couldn't send it back!
DeleteI don't think it would be possible to move anything in my house if I wanted new carpets. There's just not enough room :-D
ReplyDeleteYour bag certainly has the wow factor. The pink is gorgeous, I love the yummy mummy changing mat in your previous post too.

PS... I loved your comment on my blog :)
Oooh I'm jealous - a tidied up stash and the ability to sew in a zip - neither of which I ever manage! Sue
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, I've just joined in with Handmade Monday for the first time, so I'm discovering loads of lovely new blogs today :-) I love your bags - especially the pink lined one! I know what you mean about the carpet - we did something similar, but isn't it a wonderful feeling once it's down? Simmi x
ReplyDeleteThe inside of the bag really is wow! Lovely pink.
ReplyDeleteIt might be a hassle but what a great excuse for a good old clear out before Christmas! Love that bag with the pink lining, it definately fits the description! x
